Coach Henry Cotton - 2014 West Side Assistant Coach

Henry Cotton is a dedicated and strong advocate for students in the City of Chicago. Henry Cotton was born and raised in Chicago, IL. Witnesses struggle in the inner city first hand has always motivated Henry to help the youth in the same streets he was raised in. Henry Cotton found a way to connect with the youth through his passion and love for the game of basketball. Coach Cotton has coached AAU basketball for over 30 years and loves every minute of it. Through basketball, Henry is instilling discipline, confidence, sportsmanship, and all around knowledge of life in general. “Coach Cotton,” is well respected among Coaches and players in the state of Illinois; and uses his respect as a tool to allow students to open up and express themselves freely while playing with confidence both on the court and inside the classroom. Henry Cotton will work hard to provide safety to the students of Marshall High School as a school Security Officer. Henry Cotton’s well earned ability to reach youth has lead him to challenge his 30 year Career of helping youth, by joining Marshall High School’s Turn-Around program. Nothing makes Coach Cotton more proud than to affect a young adult life in a positive manner. Henry, goals are to help young men to become leaders go to college and raise all young men in the community and completion of college to come back to community and give back to other deserving children. Henry “Coach Hen” Cotton sees this as a first step in being apart of a new, more energized and focused Marshall High School.
